5TH SUNDAY OF EPIPHANY, SUNDAY OF 10th FEBRUARY 2019
Welcome once again to worship with us in this service and thank you very much for choosing to come to St. Luke’s Chapel Mulago. May the Lord bless you most abundantly today and tomorrow and indeed all the days of your life, Amen.
The Diocesan theme for this year of the children is drawn from Exodus 2:9; “Take care of this child”.
In this verse, Pharaoh’s daughter instructed the lady to take baby Moses and nurse him for her and she was committed to pay her wages. It turned out to be that the lady was Moses’s real mother and indeed that was how God allowed it to be.
What lessons can we learn from Pharaoh’s daughter?
- She valued life. Whereas, the government of her father wanted to kill all the male Hebrew children, for her she did not think that way! She thought of saving them instead.
- It was not too much for her to commit herself to pay the wages for looking after baby Moses. Although raising children is costly, those who value them do not count the cost.
- God was with Pharaoh’s daughter because she showed that she loved God’s people (Hebrew). If we are loving towards God’s creation (People), the Lord God will faithfully watch over our plans.
- The destiny of those whom God has chosen will always come to pass. It is God who knows the plan for our future and that plan is to prosper each one of us (Jeremiah 29:11).
We need to walk closely with God in order to realise his plans for us.
Therefore, our responsibility is to emulate Pharaoh’s daughter and take care of the children God gives us. Let us know that it is the will of God that all lives need to be protected and nurtured for His glory.
