On Sunday, 17th August 2025, St. Luke’s Chapel Mulago joyfully celebrated Mary Magdalene’s Day under the theme “From Brokenness to Boldness” (John 20:11–18). The day was organized by the Christian Women’s Fellowship (CWF) and brought together women of faith in thanksgiving, worship, and fellowship.
A Spirit-Filled Service
The main preacher of the day was Mrs. Deborah Olayinka from Nigeria, who delivered a powerful sermon encouraging women to rise in faith and courage, drawing inspiration from the life of Mary Magdalene.
Drawing from John 20:11–18, she emphasized how Mary moved from sorrow and despair at the empty tomb to boldness after encountering the risen Christ. She also highlighted Luke 8:1–3, reminding the congregation that Mary was among the women who faithfully supported Jesus’ ministry.
Encouraging women to trust in God during their lowest moments, she quoted Psalm 34:18: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” She further called women to live with strength and courage through 2 Timothy 1:7 and Proverbs 31:25, urging them to embrace the boldness that comes from Christ.
Fellowship and Conference
After the service, all women gathered for a warm luncheon that provided time for bonding, encouragement, and sharing experiences of Christian womanhood.
Later in the afternoon, a Women’s Conference was held in the Sunday school building under the theme “The Character of a Christian Woman.” The sessions equipped women with biblical principles to live boldly and faithfully in today’s world.
Online Participation
For those unable to attend in person, the service was streamed live on the St. Luke’s Chapel Mulago YouTube channel, allowing many more to be part of the celebration virtually.
A Day to Remember
Mary Magdalene’s Day 2025 was a testimony of God’s faithfulness and a reminder of the vital role of women in the ministry of Christ. From worship and teaching to fellowship and celebration, the day truly lived up to its theme — moving from brokenness to boldness in Christ.
