WHOEVER DOES NOT RENOUNCE THAT HE HAS CAN NOT BE CHRIST’S DISCIPLE. LUKE 14:33

3rd Sunday after trinity 28th June 2020.

INTRODUCTION
You are welcome to today’s service. Greetings to you all in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
in life whatever we do, we has a cost to pay. Some costs are known to us and some are not actually known or even considered.
Jesus tells the cost of following him and serving him. He takes us through the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in order for someone to be his disciple
It is very easy to confess Jesus but the greatest challenge is to remain his disciple
Jesus uses an example of a builder who cannot start building a house without first calculating the cost of building a house in order for him to finish the building.

What does Jesus expect of us as his disciples?
To love God above all things. Luke 14:26
Bear our cross daily and follow him. Luke 14: 27
Forsake all things for Christ Luke 14:33
WHY DO WE HAVE TO RENOUNCE ALL THAT WE HAVE?
There is joy in fellowship with God. David describes this very well in Psalm 63:3-8. David rejoiced in the Lord while in the wilderness.
God has chosen us and loved us so dearly. Deut 7:6-11
We are sons and heir of God. Gal 3:26-27,29 and Gal 4:6-7
We are no longer slaves but friends of Jesus when we do his commands. John 15:12-17.
Conclusion
Remember Jesus reminds us that we did not chose him but he chose us ……..John 15:16.
As chosen, elects of God and soldiers in His army for spiritual warfare, we should not entangle ourselves with the affairs of this life. 2Tim 2:4-5.
