Children Lead Worship in Powerful Service at St. Luke’s Chapel

On Sunday, 31st August 2025, St. Luke’s Chapel Mulago Hospital was filled with joy, energy, and the vibrant spirit of worship as the children took full charge of all three services at 7:15am, 8:45am, and 10:15am. This special day, celebrated as Children’s Sunday, gave the young members of the congregation an opportunity to lead the entire service—from the opening prayers, praise and worship, readings, to the preaching of the Word.

The children led with confidence, passion, and a deep sense of commitment to Christ. Their leadership brought freshness and inspiration to the congregation, reminding everyone of the words of Jesus: “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these” (Matthew 19:14).

Preachers of the Day

The day’s sermons were delivered by Eribo David Victory and Awania Baram from the Children’s Church. Under the theme “Be Part of Christ’s Mission,” they challenged the congregation—both young and old—to actively participate in the work of spreading the Gospel.

Drawing from the Scriptures, they emphasized that:

  • From Psalm 119:33–48, we are reminded to “teach me, Lord, the way of your decrees, that I may follow it to the end”—a call to obedience and faithfulness in walking with God.
  • In Acts 11:1–26, the early church demonstrated boldness in carrying the message of salvation to the Gentiles, reminding us that mission is about reaching out beyond our comfort zones.
  • And in Matthew 28:16–20, Jesus gives the Great Commission: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations… And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Speaking to the congregation, young preacher Eribo David Victory encouraged everyone to live out their faith daily, saying:
“We should not think mission is for some people only. Each of us is called to be part of Christ’s mission in our schools, workplaces, families, and communities.”

Awania Baram added,
“When we obey God’s Word and share it with others, we are joining in God’s great plan to bring light into the world.”

A Memorable Day

The sight of children leading praise and worship, reading Scriptures with confidence, and preaching the Word left a lasting impact on the congregation. Many members expressed joy and gratitude at witnessing the gifts and talents God has placed in the young ones.

Children’s Sunday 2025 was indeed a powerful reminder that the Church of today and tomorrow includes the voices of children. Their leadership not only blessed the worshippers but also inspired the entire congregation to rise up and actively “be part of Christ’s mission.”
