#COVID-19: The Unfailing Promise of the Lord to Protect His People

CHAPLAIN’S MESSAGE ON 4TH SUNDAY OF LENT 22ND MARCH 2020

Greetings to you all in the mighty name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

We are all aware of the current challenges the COVID-19 pandemic has brought to the world over. Indeed government, leaders and all people in authority around the world have continued to address the disease with firmness but still uncertain about how it will end.

By God’s grace our country, Uganda has not yet registered any case. However, we must continue to adhere to public health guidelines being given by our health authorities, namely wash hands, and avoid handshakes and hugging. When experiencing flu or cough do what the medics tell you and ensure that you access the hospital, among others.

The bible says, “He that dwells in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in him i will trust….(Psalms 91:1-16), The psalmist Echoes his faith in the Lord who protects him and keeps him safe from disease and other troubles. God must remain in charge of the situation. For us believers in Christ Jesus, we are not to behave like other people who have no hope for protection and safety from the Corona virus because God is our refuge and hope.

It is very true that a disease such as corona virus which spreads so fast and can have a very deadly effect over the world population can never be taken lightly. We thank God for our political and religious leaders for the way they continue to give leadership as the situation is being managed.
The scripture here tells us to trust in God because he is the one who can protect and heal our diseases. (Exodus 15:26). However, God requires that we obey his commandments for him to heal our diseases.

People of God, we need to listen to what God is speaking to us. A lot of times God speaks through events such as wars, pestilences, famine and diseases or suffering. He allows them to happen for a reason.it is up to us to understand what message he is giving. What lesson can we pick? I pray that people all over the world would learn something through the corona virus pandemic and admit that there is God who is in charge of the creation.
2 Chronicles 7:14 states “if my people which are called by my name shall humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land”.

Whenever a disease or pestilence such as corona virus has come or threatens to come, we must humble ourselves, repent of all our sins and cry to God for mercy, forgiveness. Healing and salvation. May the Lord help us to do that?

Conclusion:
The promise of God will never fail. He promised to protect and heal his people, so let us trust and obey Him. Worship him wherever you are and do not allow Satan to deceive you with his lies. He is a liar and indeed the father of all lies. Let Jesus Christ be your Lord and Savior and Friend. Walk with him every day of your life
Blessings in Christ Jesus.

Prayer
Heavenly father, thank you for your promises to protect and heal all those whom you have called to be yours. Have mercy on us as we wait on you. Protect our country from corona virus and heal all those who have been infected in countries around the world and comfort all the bereaved due to the virus, and make Jesus Christ known to the whole world through the pandemic of corona virus, we pray this in the mighty name of our Lord Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
